기자회견을 열어 “금지가 아닌, 규제를 달라”고 주장했던 우버가 6일 또 한번 입장자료를 발표했다. 우버가 제안한 기사등록제를 국토교통부가 인정할 수 없다고 밝히자 자신들의 ‘진짜 이야기’를 풀어낸 셈이다.

기사등록제는 서울시 및 중앙정부와의 대화를 이어가기 위한 노력으로 제시된 안입니다. 우리는 생계 유지를 위해 기술 플랫폼을 사용하는 기사들에게 경제적 기회를 창출하고 소비자 이익을 증진하며, 혁신을 촉진할 수 있는 교통시스템에 대한 믿음이 있습니다. 또한, 기사등록제는 이미 활동하고 있는 차량을 규제하는 것으로, 반드시 도로의 자동차 수 증가를 의미하는 것은 아닙니다.

We believe in a transportation system that fosters innovation, serves consumer interests and creates economic opportunities for drivers who use the technology platform to make a living.
