Senate Republicans blocked a sprawling Democratic voting rights and government ethics bill Tuesday.

공화당 상원 50명이 모두 반대표를 던지면서 화요일 HR1(소위 For the People Act)의 통과를 저지했다.

Here are some key things the bill would do: * Expand early voting * Reduce ID requirements * Allow same-day and automatic voter registration * Establish bipartisan redistricting commissions

HR1의 주요 내용은: 사전 투표의 확대, 신분증 제시 요건 감경, 당일/자동 투표 등록 가능, 양당 선거구획정 위원회 설립

The Democrats’ voting and election bill failed to advance in the Senate after a procedural vote to open debate on the legislation was defeated by a tally of 50-50, falling short of the 60 votes needed to succeed.

법안에 대한 토론을 위해서는 찬성 60표가 필요했는데 양당 모두 이탈자가 나오지 않으면서 50-50이 나왔다.

All 50 Senate Republicans united in opposing the bill, having decried it as a partisan power grab and federal overreach into state voting and election systems.

공화당 상원의원 50명 모두는 HR1 법안에 반대하면서, HR1은 민주당의 권력 강탈 시도이며 각 주의 투표와 선거 제도에 대한 연방정부의 월권 행위라고 비난했다.

바이든은 성명을 통해:

“I’ll have more to say on this next week. But let me be clear. This fight is far from over—far from over.”

“다음주에 더 얘기하겠지만 이것만은 분명하다. 싸움은 끝나지 않았다-전혀 끝나지 않았다.”
